does this bad news spell the end of wallace and gromit? a fire appears to have destroyed the entire studio and storage of the company that produced the much-beloved animated films.

Wallace and Gromit are fine:
1) the movie is doing so well that if Parks and the others at Aardman want to do another, they easily can.
2) The other day I ran into a couple of New Zealanders -- stop motion animators -- who had stopped by the Aardman Studio on a business trip. No business with Aardman -- they just wanted to see "the Holy of Holies." Accroding to them, most of the lost was of Chicken Run sets, props and materials. Still a sad thing, but apparently much of the W&G materials live on.
