Fascinating!I love those sort of stories about how things get invented -- and why. How did a revolution in dyes and organic chemistry happen? A guy wanted to add bright colors to the most whimsical toy around.You can't beat that.
Yep, and I found this even more interesting having recently finished the book The Last Sorcerers, about the transition from alchemy to chemistry.That historical perspective puts the achievements of our contemporary chemists into a whole new light. It's also a fun read.Tess
